My original removal guys dropped out last minute and these guys came and saved the day.

Great service. Great team. Took exceptional care to look after our contents and packed them away thoughtfully.

Dan and his colleague were punctual and professional. Nothing was too difficult including taking heavy chairs up three flights of stairs.

Turned up with 2 vans, gutted the house, shed and garden in no time at all while taking incredible care of the items they were moving.

Arrived on time, formed a plan, and then executed it efficiently. All for a great price too!

The two movers were professional, efficient, and handled everything with care.

Super friendly team, and had cared well over my belongings - from my flat and all the way to my storage unit.

UK to Australia removals: prepare your shipment

UK to Australia removals need careful preparation for sea freight, packing and biosecurity requirements. A detailed inventory helps identify belongings that need cleaning, extra protection or a closer review before shipping.

Build your inventory before choosing what to ship, including any furniture that needs dismantling or extra protection. Add complete collection and delivery details, with floors and loading restrictions where known. Note anything you plan to send separately or keep in UK storage. These details help the team review the load and suitable transport options. Use the route guidance below to identify the documents and arrangements to discuss before availability and the final quote are confirmed.

What actually matters on this route

B534 personal effects statementDAFF’s moving guidance identifies the B534 statement and packing list. Confirm the current declaration, lodgement and supporting-document process before shipping.
Biosecurity and quote allowanceIdentify outdoor furniture, bikes, tools and goods exposed to soil or plant material. Our quote includes an engine-calculated £195 biosecurity allowance; this is not a government fee guarantee. Confirm actual assessment, inspection, treatment and storage charges.
Wooden itemsDescribe timber, wicker and bamboo items and check the applicable import conditions and any treatment or certification required.
Cleaning and releaseCheck cleaning requirements before packing. Confirm who lodges the biosecurity documents; treatment, inspection and release depend on the goods and the authority’s assessment.
Restricted contentsCheck seeds, plants, food and protected-species materials against the applicable import controls before including them.
Customs documentationExport declaration and itemised packing list - £145, added once regardless of destination or volume, never folded into the cost of the vehicle.
Outside the quoteGovernment fees, import duties and taxes, and port storage are not in the quote, and you obtain, and pay for, any permit or customs paper the destination requires. Ferries and tolls on the route are covered when your quote says so.
Destination terminal handlingThe estimate includes a £265 destination terminal allowance. Actual charges are checked before confirmation; this applies to sea and air shipments, not road groupage.

These notes help you prepare questions; they are not a complete customs checklist. Check the rules for your goods and circumstances with the relevant authority before shipping. DAFF: moving household goods to Australia DAFF: current personal-effects lodgement process

How the price is worked out

International moves are priced by volume, not by distance. What matters is how many cubic metres you fill and how the shipment travels - a container does not care whether it started in Abingdon or Aberdeen.

  • Inventory first. We work out your load in cubic metres from the items you list; for a larger or complex move we may offer a video survey, which confirms the price and does not set it.
  • Shared or sole-use. Compare the calculated transport options for your inventory and confirm the quoted mode before booking.
  • Route: Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth or Adelaide.
  • Schedule: Confirm collection, consolidation where needed, customs clearance and final delivery separately.
  • Export packing. Every shipment gets export-grade wrap and a customs inventory, itemised as its own line - about 18% added to the shipping cost for packing that has to survive a container and a long transit, not just a van down the road. Full details of our packing service are on its own page.

We are not VAT-registered, so there is no VAT to add to your shipping cost. The figure shown is an indicative estimate; your final written quote confirms the price after we review the route, requirements and applicable charges.

Moving to the UK instead?

If you are bringing a household to the UK, you may be eligible for Transfer of Residence (ToR1) relief on qualifying personal belongings. Apply for HMRC approval before shipping. If you paid import duties but were eligible, HMRC may still approve a late claim and repayment. Check HMRC's conditions and late-claim process. Relief is not automatic; destination-country customs, duties and taxes on outbound moves are separate.

Moving to Australia

How should I plan for Australian biosecurity?

Review the inventory for outdoor equipment, timber and other items needing biosecurity checks before packing. Confirm cleaning, treatment and inspection requirements; clean goods do not guarantee immediate release.

How much is a move to Australia?

A three-bedroom household is typically £9,225-£10,800 by shared container. Volume drives the price.

How long does it take?

Request a schedule covering consolidation, the sailing, biosecurity checks and delivery to your address. Confirm what happens if inspection or treatment changes the delivery window.
